Choosing a dentist from records you can check yourself
Most dentist finders rank by advertising spend. DentalNPI uses federal records only: NPI and specialty from NPPES, Medicare enrolment, industry payments, and whether the practice sits in a dental shortage area. The scope is narrow on purpose — the top ten per specialty in each state — so every page has enough worth reading.

This is health information, so the page has to read as trustworthy before it reads as pretty: a serif for headings and body, a monospace for NPI numbers and sources, a paper-coloured ground and a deep navy call button. Every data tile names its source in the corner (NPPES, CMS, HRSA) and stale records carry an amber warning, so readers always know where a number came from and how fresh it is.

Each state's dental Medicaid programme summarised for adults and children, with Medicare-enrolled dentists listed.
Every state and specialty gets aggregates: density per population, median years in practice, MIPS, Open Payments.
